Best Okanagan Beaches
The Okanagan Valley is the warmest and driest part of BC, with areas of semi-arid desert as well as Canada’s only true desert. It also contains a large number of lakes, most of which are warm and wonderful swimming locations! Because of this, the Okanagan is famous for some of the most beautiful beaches that BC has to offer. You’ll find long stretches of soft sand and wonderful warm waters, which is perfect for our hot weather!
The beach is where you’ll find many locals and tourists alike cooling off, relaxing, enjoying water sports and enjoying the views with picnics.

North Okanagan Beaches
Cosens Bay and Juniper Bay
Located within Kalamalka Provincial Park, you will find many hiking/walking trails that lead to two bays (Cosens Bay and Juniper Bay) with sandy beaches. While you’re walking towards the beaches, enjoy the beautiful views of the unique blue-green colour of the lake, a result of limestone crystals that reflect in the sunlight. The park is well maintained and the water is clean, great for swimming! Follow the signs or look for the maps and you’ll even find a pet-friendly beach for your four legged friends. There are outhouses and picnic tables for your convenience.
Kalamalka beach (or Kal Beach) is a busy, large beach located on the north shore of Kalamalka Lake. This beach has a long pier, picnic tables, changing rooms, rest rooms and a concession stand. During the summer months you can enjoy kayak, paddleboard and boat rentals right on the beach. Parking is accessible via Husband Road.
A small sandy beach located off WestKal Road. This beach is within walking distance to Kalamalka Beach, as well as the Kal General Store. The sandy beach leads into rocky, shallow waters.
Ellison Provincial Park
Located on Okanagan Lake at the end of Okanagan Landing Road, which turns into Eastside Road. There is a bit of a walk down to beach areas. Enjoy the walking trails, the pink sandy beaches and clean water for swimming. Picnic areas,a playground and camping areas are located within Ellison Provincial Park.
Kin beach can be found on the east shore of Okanagan Lake. The beach has a great grassy area that is great for frisbee and volleyball. There’s also a great playground, several picnic tables, and barbecues within the large picnic shelter. The sandy beach leads into the shallow swimming area. There are change rooms and rest rooms. Parking is located along Tronson Road, alongside the park.
Paddlewheel Park is located off Okanagan Landing Road and is on Okanagan Lake. You’ll find a sandy beach, grassy areas, a playground, basketball court, beach volleyball courts and tennis courts. There are also picnic tables for you to enjoy. A boat launch with trailer parking is available.
Waterwheel Park (or Tuey Park)
While this beach is on the Shuswap River in Enderby, the wide sandy beach is popular with local swimmers. It’s often referred to as “Waterwheel Park” because of the waterwheel and flume which were built in 1911 on site to irrigate the surrounding farmland. The water at this point in the river is especially calm and shallow but swimmers are warned to keep a look out for boats in the deeper main channel. There is a picnic area, washrooms, and an adjacent dog park for pet owners.
Kaloya Park is a great place in the summer months to swim, boat, picnic, and take a short but beautiful walk around the peninsula. There are many shady areas, spots on the beaches for sunbathers and swimmers and lots of grass and benches too. There is a lily pond with pink water lilies blooming most of the summer, a covered picnic area, a gazebo, a playground.
Central Okanagan Beaches
This is a beautiful park that has a picnic area, playground, open field for watching gophers, ball diamonds, washroom facilities and direct beach access. Located in Carrs Landing at 15480 Carrs Landing Road.
(Same location as Beasley Park) A great park with the beach, washroom facilities, soccer fields, volleyball courts and a playground. Located on Woodsdale Road in Winfield, BC.
Fintry Provincial Park
Fintry Provincial Park includes 360 hectares of the former Fintry Estate, a heritage site with a colourful history. There is over 2 km of waterfront with surrounding mountains and canyons. With almost two kilometres of waterfront property, the park has opportunities for camping, swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and wildlife viewing. Recreational users can enjoy the natural sand beach while wildlife viewers can hike the Canyon trail. The park is located on Fintry Delta Road, off Westside Road, approximately 34 km north of Kelowna or 49 km south of Vernon.
On Gellatly Road in West Kelowna. This main beach area is a favourite and the sand is perfect for building sandcastles. With a volleyball court off to the side, picnic tables and trees for shade, it is the ideal all-ages beach destination. A small seasonal concession stand operates across the road from the beach.
On Gellatly Road in West Kelowna. This park has a pebble beach, a grass area, a covered picnic facility and a playground. It is perfect for those with small children as both the park and beach areas are fenced in.
On Pritchard Road in West Kelowna. Located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, there are plenty of sunny and shady spots, making it perfect place to swim, play volleyball, picnic or walk out on the dock.
Gellatly Nut Farm
On Whitworth Road in West Kelwona. Gellatly Nut Farm, a historic nut farm also has a swimming beach! Large shade trees, a small rock beach with a gradual slope into the water, grass and a playground nearby make this a perfect off the beaten path swimming beach to enjoy.
Bear Creek Provincial Park
On Westside Road. The swim area is narrow, marked with buoys and covers over 400 metres of coarse sandy beach lakeshore. There are also grassy areas, picnic spots and change rooms in the day use area of this provincial park.
Boyce – Gyro Beach
One of Kelowna’s most well known beaches, Gyro is a favourite with the local younger crowd. Snack venues, rental shops, volleyball courts, playgrounds, picnic areas and washroom facilities provide fun for every age. The beach is located at 3400 Lakeshore Road in Kelowna.
Rotary Beach Park
Rotary Park has designated swimming areas, change rooms, playgrounds, picnic areas and more. Known for its kite boarding and wind surfing, Rotary is the ideal spot to enjoy your favourite water sport. This beach is a hot spot for tourists and locals alike! Rotary Beach is located at 3726 Lakeshore Road in Kelowna.
Tall leafy trees and large grassy areas, give Kinsmen Park the perfect amount of sun and shade. Dip your feet into Okanagan Lake, have lunch at one of the picnic tables, play a round of tennis or enjoy the on-site playground. Kinsmen Park is fully equipped with washrooms for your convenience. Located at 2600 Abbott Street in Kelowna.
Located next to the Kelowna General Hospital, Strathcona Park has designated swimming areas, picnic tables, public washrooms and a playground. Surrounded by tall oak trees, its large grassy area provides the perfect setting to curl up with a good book or relax with friends and family. Located at 2290 Abbott Street in Kelowna.
Waterfront Park has unbeatable views of Okanagan Lake, sandy beaches, a water park, a playground, washroom facilities, paddle boat rentals and boat launches. Take a stroll along the boardwalk which follows the waters edge all the way to City Park. Located at 1200 Water Street in the heart of Kelowna.
South Okanagan Beaches
Sun Oka Beach
Okanagan Beach is located on Okanagan Lake at Lakeshore Drive in Penticton, BC. This beach features nearly one kilometre of premium, sandy beach. Okanagan Beach features a swimming area, rest rafts, kiddie slides, shade trees, washrooms nearby, firepits, and free parking.
Skaha Beach is located on Skaha Lake at Skaha Lake Road in Penticton, BC. This beach features over 20 acres of park and beach, the red sand beach is great for sunbathing & wading in the warm waters. This beach is located in Skaha Lake Park and also features a children’s water park.
Airport Beach is located on Skaha Lake at Hwy 97 (west of the River Channel) in Penticton, BC. Airport Beach features a huge beach area, day moorage for pleasure boats, and limited parking across the street.
Marina Way Beach
Marina Way Beach is located on Okanagan Lake at Marina Way in Penticton, BC. Marina Way Beach features a small sandy beach, swimming area, limited parking, seasonal toilets, shallow entry into water, and is located adjacent to Marina Way Park.
Sudbury Beach is located on Skaha Lake at Skaha Lake Road in Penticton, BC. This beach features a huge beach area, swimming area, rest rafts and slides, washrooms, concession, limited parking, and a fire pit.
Located on the West Side of Osoyoos Lake, Legion Beach is tucked into a cove southwest of the Channel Bridge. Osoyoos Lake is most popular for wakeboarding, waterskiing, swimming and tubing.
Gyro Beach is located on Osoyoos Lake in Osoyoos, BC. Osoyoos Lake is the warmest lake in the valley with an average temperature of 24°C/70°F in the summer. Gyro Beach is the largest beach in Osoyoos and is the site of many popular summer events. You’ll find lots of shade trees and warm shallow waters .
